NHMA Membership
New Hampshire Municipal Association (NHMA) membership is open to the cities and towns of New Hampshire. Municipal membership entitles a community to participate in the development and adoption of municipal policy, and to receive the full range of services offered by NHMA and the New Hampshire Local Government Center.
In addition to NHMA advocacy services, municipal members enjoy access to:
- Legal advisory services, including access to the Legal Services hotline, which is staffed by attorneys who are available to respond to inquiries Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Upon request, attorneys are also available to provide topic-specific training.
- Personnel services, including pay and classification studies, personnel policies and guidelines, professional recruitment and consultation services.
- Pooled-coverage programs offered through LGC HealthTrust, Property-Liability Trust and Workers’ Compensation Program.
Visit the Services section of this website for more information regarding legal, human resource, finance and risk services available to municipal members.
NHMA members also receive complimentary copies of educational and informational publications, including New Hampshire Town and City magazine, as well as member discounts on other NHMA and LGC publications. Visit the Publications section to preview available resources.
Members have access to a wide array of training opportunities, including workshops, LGC’s Annual Conference, and online training through the LGC Academy. Visit the Training and Events section of the website for the full list of workshops and events.
Municipal membership dues are based upon municipal population and equalized valuation. In addition to municipal membership, NHMA offers associate and service levels of membership to eligible local government entities including schools, village districts, utility districts, counties, regional planning commissions or quasi-municipal public agencies serving municipalities, subject to the approval of the Municipal Advocacy Committee and any terms as the Municipal Advocacy Committee may establish.
Membership inquiries should be directed to the Member Relations staff.
