Excellence in Annual Report Awards

The Excellence in Annual Report Awards provides recognition for municipalities that have produced exceptional public documents. Town reports are judged for each of six population categories: less than 750; 751–1,500; 1,501–3,000; 3,001–5,000; 5,001–7,500; and 7,501 and higher. Cities are judged in a separate category. The initial round of judging is based upon the presentation of basic information and statistics; the top 10 winners from each category proceed to the second round of judging, which ranks creativity and reader appeal. Annual report submissions must be postmarked by July 30, 2010. Winners will be announced in conjunction with the LGC Annual Conference in November.

Municipal Volunteer of the Year Awards

The Municipal Volunteer of the Year Awards annually honor a select group of New Hampshire residents for tireless and dedicated community service. Each summer, municipal officials are invited to nominate local volunteers for this award. Nominees are judged on total hours and years of volunteer service plus demonstrated leadership, an ability to involve others and innovative approaches to meeting goals. Winners are announced in conjunction with the LGC Annual Conference in November.

John B. Andrews Scholarship Program

The John B. Andrews Scholarship Program is open to children of New Hampshire municipal, school, county and village district employees and officials of any unit of local government that is an LGC member or a participant in LGC services. A minimum of 10 scholarships in the amount of $750 each are awarded statewide every spring. Scholarship applicants must be high school students in their senior year. Scholarship program funding is raised through the LGC Annual Fall Classic Golf Tournament (described below) and independent donations. For more information, call 800.852.3358, ext. 150.

LGC Annual Fall Classic Golf Tournament

The LGC's Annual Fall Classic Golf Tournament is held at a regional golf club each September to benefit the John B. Andrews Scholarship Program (noted above). Scramble format-play typically includes registration at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. Sponsorship opportunities are always available.

LGC Photo Contest

Each fall, LGC conducts a contest to invite photographers—professional and amateur alike—to submit their best color photos from around the state. Attractive and artful photos of downtowns, parks, municipal buildings, beautiful landscape scenes and nature are all welcome—subjects do not need to be municipal in nature. Download the 2010 submission form for guidelines and additional details. All entries must be submitted by November 5, 2010.
