History
The New Hampshire Local Government Center (LGC) is home to the New Hampshire Municipal Association (NHMA), HealthTrust, Property-Liability Trust and Workers’ Compensation Program. Originally founded as the NHMA in 1941 for the purpose of exchanging information in the interest of more efficient and effective local government, NHMA was reorganized in July 2003 as the LGC.
New Hampshire Municipal Association
The NHMA is a nonprofit, non-partisan membership organization of municipalities. It provides advocacy support for municipal governments plus educational and training programs for local officials and employees. Advocacy activities are governed by a Municipal Advocacy Committee comprised of municipal officials from throughout New Hampshire, and represented at the State House by a dedicated government affairs staff. Visit the About NHMA web page for complete details.
HealthTrust
As part of the LGC, HealthTrust is a nonprofit employee benefits pool devoted exclusively to serving towns, cities, counties, schools, and quasi-municipal organizations in New Hampshire. Established in 1984, its goal is to provide member groups with the programs and services they need to effectively manage long-term costs, while helping to keep employees healthy and productive. HealthTrust offerings include health, dental and vision plans, Survivor and Transition Care plans, health management programs, WELLDollars grants, flu vaccine reimbursements and more. Visit the HealthTrust web page to learn more.
Property-Liability Trust
Since 1986, LGC has promoted a true partnership with member groups to help them understand potential risk exposures and remain protected from risk through our Property-Liability Trust (PLT). Because PLT representatives have backgrounds in various areas of municipal and school risk exposures, they have a first-hand understanding of the extra effort and “member first” philosophy necessary to successfully administer claims for the benefit of member groups. Visit the Property-Liability web page for additional information.
Workers' Compensation Program
Our comprehensive Workers’ Compensation Program was started in 2000 and focuses on managing claims fairly and helping employees get the care they need, without hassles or delays. By integrating care, focusing on individual recovery plans, actively managing benefits, and working within an extensive network of providers, we succeed in keeping member group costs low. Plus, as a nonprofit organization, all savings are passed directly to member groups in the form of competitive contributions. Visit the Workers' Compensation web page to learn more.
